MEC Zuma Assures Woman A Place In The Agriculture Sector

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Super Zuma, has urged women and young people to take part in the agricultural sector, stating that there is a need for them to play an integral role in transforming the Agricultural Sector. MEC Super Zuma said this during the handover of Ntuso farm which is a 2500 hectare farm situated on the outskirts of Bulwer, under Dr. Nkosazane Dlamini Zuma (Dr. NDZ) Local Municipality, in the Harry Gwala District Municipality. The MEC was accompanied by the Harry Gwala District Mayor Cllr. Zamo Nxumalo, Dr. NDZ Mayor Cllr. Sindisiwe Msomi, leadership, management and officially from the Department and the municipality’s. MEC said more women should be in farming. "As a Department we pride ourselves on the hard work and success we witness throughout the province when inspecting projects managed by female farmers. I want to asure all young aspiring female farmers that we are committed to allivate emerging farmers into commercial farmers. " said Zuma The MEC further said young people have been trained and facilitated in modern and innovative agricultural methods, for us to increase agricultural produce it is critical to introduce young people with vibrant knowledge.” stated Super Zuma "As a Department we pride ourselves on the hard work and success we witness throughout the province when inspecting projects managed by female farmers. " said Zuma The MEC further said young people have been trained and facilitated in modern and innovative agricultural methods, for us to increase agricultural produce it is critical to introduce young people with vibrant knowledge.” stated Super Zuma " I have observed a great deal of commitment and dedication showcased by our female farmers, which is why we have devised strategies which seeks to introduce famers to commercial markets and even venture into international market".The MEC further commended the Ntuso Farm for effectively tapping into the market as they are already supplying Pick n Pay, Spar and other retail stores. “I’m calling upon all women to soldier on and eminate acts of resilience showcased by our former heroines. The likes of the great Lillian Ngoyi, Winnie Madikizela Mandela and many others. In order to overcome poverty, inequality, and unemployment in our province, women and youth should organize themselves into business niches that cater to each demand in the value chain."- MEC Zuma stated. Mayor Nxumalo in his welcome remarks address he said government wants to see more women in farming and the municipality will continue to support female owned business.
