In Celebrating Mandela Day, the Harry Gwala District Mayor Cllr. Zamo Nxumalo, together with UBuhlebezwe Local Mayor Cllr. E.B Ngubo, spent a day at Christ The King Hospital in IXopo.
The Mayors were joined by the Municipal Managers, employees from both the municipalities, SAPS, Correctional Services as wells as employees from the hospital and community members. During the visit the Mayors cleaned and painted part of the hospital, visited the post-natal ward to meet mothers and their newborns, handing over new clothes to them.
The initiative is part of Mandela Day Celebration which is an annual global celebration that takes place on the 18th of July to honour the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. This day is a call to action for individuals, organisations and communities to take time and reflect on Mandela’s values, principles and to make a positive impact in the community they serve.
