Monthly Municipal Infrastructure Grant Meeting (MIG) Reaped Positive Results For Harry Gwala District

The family of municipalities under Harry Gwala District held its monthly grant reporting session, where all the municipalities presented their status on Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG), INEP, EPWP and WSIG grants and expenditure to date. The meeting was held today (14 May 2024), at the Harry Gwala District Municipality Council Chambers in Ixopo.

The District has been having regularly meetings to discuss MIG progress and expenditure. This has reaped positive results as the financial year comes to end. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma leading the pack with (MIG) expenditure on 100%, UBuhlebezwe (MIG) expenditure on 89%, UMzimkhulu (MIG) expenditure on 59%, and Greater Kokstad (MIG) expenditure on 92% and Harry Gwala District expenditure on 86%. 

Cllr. Z Nxumalo, the District Mayor chaired this meeting and said that having these monitoring meetings on regular basis has assisted the district in improving expenditure on grants.

“These meetings have reaped positive result for us in-terms of MIG expenditure. It assisting us with completing projects and be able to bring service delivery to the community. We would like to thank the KZN Cogta for providing us with support on MIG,” said Mayor Nxumalo.

He also emphasised that all the municipalities should adopt a forward planning approach for the next financial year on MIG projects and to continue to share best practices. In his closing remarks Mayor Nxumalo also congratulated Dr CA Ngqoyiya, a Municipal Manager from uMzimkhulu LM for obtaining his Doctorate on the 7th May 2024.
