Donnybrook police station
In a bid to address the policing needs of communities and bring policing resources closer to communities, the Donnybrook Police Station was official opened and handed over to the community in a function held in Harry Gwala District in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, 23 April 2024.
The National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, Deputy National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili and the Acting Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Phumelele Makoba were among the dignitaries officiating the opening ceremony. The District Mayor Cllr. Z.D Nxumalo, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Mayor Cllr. S. Msomi, and other councillors attended the function.
The fully-fledged police station also boasts with a fully equipped Victim-Friendly Room which is envisaged to accommodate victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
The opening of the Donnybrook Police Station is indicative of the SAPS unwavering commitment to enhance community safety and policing services and forms part of the SAPS’ strategic direction to address policing needs and to bring Police Services closer to communities.
The police station will ensure that community of Donnybrook has peace of mind, knowing that a fully-fledged police station is serving them within their radius. Donnybrook Police Station in the Harry Gwala District in KwaZulu-Natal is servicing many villages within this area and is well capacitated with adequate staff members and other resources needed to fight crime and ensure all people in and around this policing precinct are and feel safe.
The District Mayor Cllr. Zamo Nxumalo in his message of support asked community members to work with the police in fighting crime, he also thanked the police for their hard work and dedication in fighting crime in the district.
“We are very excited about these state-of-the-art police station which will service our community. This really shows that government is concerned about the safety of our community and is doing everything to ensure we have a safe environment. I would like to ask community member to work with the police in fighting crime,” said Mayor Nxumalo
