Harry Gwala District Municipality has embarked on an Amnesty programme Starting in November 2023 until June 2024.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

The qualifying customers are those with accounts who are 90 days or more in arrea who wish to benefit from the amnesty. The amnesty shall be administered as follows:

Accounts of which 50% of the overall debt are paid within 30 days after the signing of the amnesty application forms will be written off by 50% of their outstanding debt. Accounts of which 50% of the overall debt are paid within 60 days after the signing of the amnesty application forms will be written off by 40% of their outstanding debt. Accounts of which 50% of the overall debt are paid within 90 days after the signing of the amnesty application forms will be written off by 30% of their outstanding debt. Accounts of which 50% of the overall debt are paid within 120 days after the signing of the amnesty application forms will be written off by 20% of their outstanding debt. Accounts of which are paid 50% of the overall debt are paid within 150 days after the signing of the amnesty application forms will be written off by 10% of their outstanding debt. The amnesty excludes Municipal Councillors, government departments and state owned enterprises.
