HARRY GWALA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY HOLDS SUCCESSFUL COUNCIL MEETING

The Harry Gwala District Municipality held a successful Council Meeting today, 29 July 2025, demonstrating the municipality’s continued commitment to transparent governance, community involvement, and accelerated service delivery.

The meeting, chaired by the District Speaker Cllr. Sibongiseni Mdunge, brought together councillors, traditional leaders, senior municipal officials, and management to discuss key service delivery matters and to adopt critical resolutions in line with the municipality’s development priorities.

In the address by the district Mayor Cllr. Zamo Nxumalo highlighted progress made in infrastructure development, water and sanitation service delivery, and financial management. He reaffirmed council’s dedication to ensuring that all communities within the district, particularly those in remote and rural areas, receive the basic services they are entitled to. “Our people deserve reliable water, proper sanitation, and accountable leadership. Today’s council meeting reaffirms that we are a municipality that listens and delivers,” said Mayor Nxumalo.

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), also presented to council their plans and actions for the Harry Gwala District. The municipality also acknowledged and appreciated the presence of representatives from IEC.

The council meeting forms part of a broader strategic effort to promote participatory democracy and enhance service delivery in line with the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
