The Youth of Harry Gwala benefit on Youth Skills Development training
The Harry Gwala District Municipality kicked off the tourism month on a high note, when the District Speaker Cllr. Sibongiseni Mdunge officially handed over certificate of competence to the beneficiaries for Operation of the Roller-Ride on.
This is the District Youth Skills Development programme aimed at equipping the youth with the necessary skills and to contribute positively to the unemployed and unskilled youth of Harry Gwala District.
The ceremony was attended by Cllr Mdunge, District Officials and the Ten (10) participants, out of the twelve (12) young people who were trained.
In his keynote address, Cllr Mdunge shared a few words of gratitude and wisdom to successful candidates.
“Just to visit our history briefly it was very difficult when we grew up, we did not have such opportunities and a diversity of career fields. However, I am pleased that today you will receive these certificates. It proves greatly that opportunities are at your disposal. Working conditions have improved over the years as we have advanced machines, such programmes are virtually aimed at providing skills and tools to utilize in organizations,” said Cllr Mdunge.
The speaker also emphasized that it is important for the youth to continuously thrive and gain more skills and knowledge as time and technology gravitates daily.
One of the learners, Ms. Lumka Digashu, had an opportunity to express gratitude to the Municipality for the training.
"More than anything we are truly grateful for our Municipality Harry Gwala to open this opportunity for us as the youth" said Ms. Lumka Digashu.
